Last night I went to the Community Center to go to a step class. For being a teacher, I get a membership at a reduced price, which makes it the best deal for me in both Bismarck and Mandan. The Community Center is in Mandan. I had every intention of signing up with someone, but it just didn't work out so I took the plunge and signed up alone. (Pat on my back) It's OK, it will be good for me anyway. Plus they have classes and I'm much more likely to go to a class than just go and work out by myself.
OK, so last night. I get there early because it was the first time I'd been there and I wanted to get familiar with the place and just look around. I didn't look around because when I got there and had to sign in for the class, here it was Butts & Guts and not Step! I would have looked like an idiot signing in and then leaving, so I decided to stay and see what it was like.......
Well let's just say I'm glad that I'm not in a building with stairs. Period. It was 45 minutes of squats, lunges, crunches, and leg lifts. By the end of the class when we were doing leg lifts, I was lucky to get my knees up! My butt and legs were-and still are- like jelly. I could barely walk! I even fell down once when I had to squat down to pick up some trash after I got home. It's really pitiful. So I was positive that I wouldn't be able to walk today and I can, but not without some discomfort. Sitting in chairs is more like plopping in chairs. I have to giggle thinking about it.
Tonight's class is kickboxing, and I really wanted to go, but I don't think I'll be able to do it without looking like a doof because I'm still so incapacitated. So I'll have to try again next week when I'm healed and then I'll go to the right class. There's a reason I didn't choose Butts & Guts in the first place. I knew I wasn't in shape enough to hack it. And yes, I was right. So maybe I'll go back this winter when I'm fit and in shape and looking for a way to round out or spice up my exercise routine. Until then, I prefer the full use of my leg muscles.
