We have a puppy and she needs a home. A home that's not ours. She's a black lab and she's incredibly cute and smart. 9 weeks old and already she retrieves. Of course, by retrieve I mean goes into another room and drags out things at least half her size, if not bigger (like Justin's work boots.) I thought our apartment was a mess before...is this a precursor to what having kids is like? She makes me laugh constantly and it's quite fun to have her around.
The trouble is, we're in a non-pets apartment, and we don't even have a nice garage with windows to keep her in during the day. Some people have dogs in town and they can take the dogs for walks at least 3 or more times a day and then let them out potty more than that. We, however, cannot do that. Luckily I only work afternoons, so other than over night, the longest she spends in the dark garage in her little kennel is 5 1/2 hours.
We posted her on an online classifieds, had her and her brother given away within hours, and made the arrangements. After going to the farm and bringing them back to Bismarck, her brother's new owner came right away and picked him up. Her new owner, however, was not to be reached. A day full of phone calls and voice mails, and we never heard from this lady again. She was unreachable. So now we have a puppy. She has a name, but I refuse to call her by her name, because that would mean even more attachment and I'm trying desperately not to get attached. She does, however answer to "Puppy" and "NO!" The only thing that keeps me from giving in to her staying is the overwhelming guilt every time I have to coax her in her kennel and close the garage door. Whenever we're home we let her in the house. (shhh) Right now she's stretched out on the floor, very innocently sleeping. She's so cute. Know anyone who wants a puppy?
