When my mom was pregnant with me, she was so big that she had people convinced she was having twins. My great grandmother told her so every time she saw her, and others commented as well. As I've received more and more comments about my size, I always wondered if I would eventually follow suit.
Yep.
On two separate occasions yesterday, twins were mentioned. As I walked through the staff lounge, the custodians asked if I was carrying a watermelon. Yes, I am. You're huge, one says. And I have four weeks to go. (Saucer eyes) And you've got just one in there or are there two? Just one, thank you. Another random mom picking her kid up from school says, "I have to ask-how many weeks?" Four more. Wow even in the past week you've gotten so much bigger! Yes, it comes in spurts. And you have just one or is it twins? Just one.
On a relatively positive note, they also say that daughters tend to labor like their mothers, and mom's was a short and sweet 6 hours. I'm hoping that holds true as well. Let's cross our fingers.
