The Pessimistic Easy Button
I want an easy button. It seems like everything in life is so high maintenance. Relationships, body image, jobs, friendships, school & homework, pets, houses, cars. Everything requires time and effort. Why can't we just have an easy button? If things were easy, would we be worse off? Probably. Then we'd never appreciate anything, we'd never feel accomplishment out of a job well done, we'd never need anything, and we'd always be perfectly bored. And that'd be no fun. But really, I could do with a little less dusting, boring exercise, crabby kids, oil changes, reading, and study guides. And I want bigger closets. Yes, that ellusive easy button would be nice to have. Right here beside my computer. And in each room of the house. And maybe one in my purse. And one in my glovebox. And a chapstick-sized one to carry in my pocket. That way everything sucky would just go away and everything fun and nice would "poof" appear.

That sounds nice. Maybe not for everything, but for some things it just makes sense. (Kind of)
