Yesterday I told you about the new dryer that I was going to get. I sang and danced about my new dryer all of last night and cleaned out the little closet that it was in. This morning I got up early so that I could be ready and have everything in order when the movers got here. They'd put it in and I'd go to work and get things done. Necessary things. Things that I saved especially for today to get done.....but that's beside the point.
Well, the Einstein that purchased the dryer (not the renters, mind you) didn't measure the space that it goes in. So the appliance guys came today and it's a mess. They had to take the washer out first to get the old dryer out. No problem. Hooked it up to the dolly and moved it into the kitchen. Then they took the old dryer out and brought the new one in. Meanwhile I cleaned the floor and the entire army of dust bunnies that lived there. GROSS. They got the new dryer in with much grunting and choice words and "oops's" and "uh oh's" but then the washer wouldn't go back in. It's 3 inches too wide to go back into the space allotted for these two appliances. So the appliance guys called the landlord, who called the handyman, who couldn't come until after lunch. Then they left.
It's 2:00 and I haven't seen hide nor hair of the handyman. I have a washing machine in my kitchen and the old dryer is gone but there's a new dryer in the dryer spot. And to get the washer in, we're talking renovations, people. Removing sections of dry-wall. Not exactly what I envisioned when I got the call last night.
A smart person would have measured FIRST. No....that'd be too sensical. I don't need common sense! I need a new dryer! Well....an operational washer now. Or smaller appliances. That would be an easier solution. But there we go again with the common sense.
